Originally founded in Tucson, AZ, Freecycle is a grassroots organization dedicated to recycling goods and keeping them out of landfills. There's no cost to join, and you can browse the (literally) thousands of listings to search for furniture, household items, books, supplies, and much more. Of course, if you have stuff you want to get rid of that you think someone else could use, you can post it here as well for no charge. (In essence, the site is kind of like Craigslist, but all for free.)
Now with nearly 9 million members in 85 countries around the world, there's a good chance you'll find a local group near you. (Colorado readers, there are about 80 groups throughout the state, so just browse the site to find the one closest to you.)
