When I was working at Kutenda, we helped IT businesses create and post news releases online (among many other things). Most of these businesses had never written or sent a release, so to help customers get started, I created several "fill-in-the-blank" style templates for them to use. We referred to these as "Mad Libs" templates at the office -- just like the game, you fill in the blanks and create a story.
I've uploaded a free pdf version of a news release template here to help your small business get started, too. The text in this template is to announce an event such as a webinar, seminar, or lunch-and-learn, but you could easily make adjustments to announce a new product, service, or employee. Just use the text as a guide and fill in the yellow highlighted areas with your own text/information (don't forget to proofread it before you send it off!).
Got questions? Comments? Let me know!
